After being designated for assignment on June 17, Aaron Small cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus on Monday. Small posted a 8.46 ERA in 11 games for the Yankees this season.

The Yankees designated Aaron Small for assignment on Saturday, according to the AP. He was 0-3 with an 8.46 ERA in 11 appearances for New York. If Small clears waivers, he will join Triple-A Columbus. "We just feel he's more suited to be a starter," manager Joe Torre said. "At this point in time, we need relievers."

Although Aaron Small took Shawn Chacon's spot in the rotation when he went on the DL, the Yankees will likely skip Small's next start, according to the official team website. With Chacon eligible to come off the disabled list on June 1, Small will probably get only one more turn in the rotation.
