The A's released Todd Walker on Thursday, according to the Sports Network. He had been designated for assignment on May 12. He hit .271 with four RBI in 48 at-bats with the A's this year.

Todd Walker was designated for assignment by the Athletics Saturday, according to the team's official site. He's going to go home for a few days and seems resigned to the fact that his pro career could be over.

Todd Walker signed a minor-league deal with the Athletics Friday, the AP reports. "He's an offensive weapon," A's manager Bob Geren said. "He might just fit in perfectly with our plans. We'll see how it goes."

The Padres are expected to release Todd Walker on Tuesday, according to the AP. He hit only .225 this spring but will get nearly a million dollars in termination pay from the Padres.

Todd Walker won his arbitration case with the Padres on Wednesday, getting $3.95 million - compared to the $2.75 million the club offered, according to the AP. "You don't want to go through something like that," Walker said. "It was painful. It worked out and we feel very lucky." Walker his .278 with nine homers and 53 RBI in 442 at-bats in 2006.
