Newsbreakers
September 26, 2008
Scott Rolen went 2-for-3 with an RBI in Friday's 3-0 win over Baltimore. The game was called in the seventh inning due to rain. He hit a single and a double, his 30th of the season.

Our View:Rolen has 50 RBI for the season, with 11 coming in September.
September 20, 2008
Scott Rolen went 2-for-4 with a home run in the Blue Jays 6-3 win over Boston on Saturday.

Our View:Rolen has actually had a solid month of September, hitting .299 with two home runs and eight RBI. His fantasy value is slim to none for the rest of his career because he'll never again have a healthy shoulder.
September 17, 2008
Scott Rolen had a big night at the plate in the Blue Jays' 8-7 win over the Orioles. In four at-bats Rolen had two doubles and a triple.

Our View:Rolen is still one of the best defensive third baseman in the league but the days of Rolen being a productive hitter have come to end. In 2008 he has only hit nine home runs and is averaging .253. These numbers are the reason why Rolen is no longer a formidable fantasy asset.
September 4, 2008
Scott Rolen believes he can still be a productive major league player now that he has made some adjustments to his batting stance, according to the Toronto Star. Rolen lowered his hands to account for range of motion issues that have occurred due to his shoulder woes.

Our View:It's clear that Rolen will probably never be the same player he had been. His days of being a productive offensive player for fantasy owners are likely over.
August 28, 2008
Scott Rolen was out of the Jays lineup on Thursday night as his shoulder continues to bother him, according to MLB.com. Rolen hopes to be in the starting lineup on Friday when the Jays take on the Yankees.

Our View:Rolen's days of effectiveness at the plate appear to be finished, at least for this season. He struggles to do the most rudimentary things at the plate on most days, a fact that the Jays can't be too happy about considering that Rolen is due $26 million over the next two seasons.
