There is further confirmation that Mike Cameron is not likely bound for the Bronx, according to the NY Post. Brewers' GM Doug Melvin stated, "Yankees' GM Brian Cashman basically just wanted to tell me why he hadn't called. He said he has had a lot of things going on. I told him we're probably going to hang on to Mike."

Our View:Cameron would have looked good in pinstripes, but could still hold favorable fantasy value with a solid Brewers' club in 2009, namely in the power department.
December 18, 2008
ESPN.com reports that Brewers general manager Doug Melvin said the Mike Cameron to the Yankees trade talks are dead. "[Cashman] had called me on an idea, and I got back to him with another idea, and we haven't heard from each other since. I assume what we're talking about is no longer alive, and that's fine. I'm not upset; that's just how deals are," Melvin said.

Our View:It sounds as if the Brewers have no problem with Cameron starting in center field, although he brings big strikeout totals, a declining glove and a .243 batting average from last season.
December 16, 2008
The Star-Ledger reports that the Yankees and Brewers have a tentative deal in place to send Mike Cameron to New York for Melky Cabrera, but the Yankees think that they don't have to rush the deal.

Our View:The Yankees probably can take their time here, as Cameron hasn't been drawing interest from other clubs. If they're truly interested in signing Mark Teixeira then he will be their priority, not Cameron.
December 15, 2008
The New York Times reports that the Yankees are backing away from a potential Melky Cabrera-for-Mike Cameron trade with the Milwaukee Brewers. The reason they are shying away are apparently baseball related and not financially related.

Our View:Maybe they just noticed Cameron is turning 36, struck out 142 times in 444 at-bats and hit .243 last season. Not only that, but it was clear in the playoffs that his defense has certainly taken a turn for the worse.
December 15, 2008
The Yankees are expected to resume trade talks regarding Mike Cameron today, according to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated.

Our View:The Yankees still want the Brewers to either absorb a few million of Cameron's $10 million salary or take some of Kei Igawa's contract, but the Brewers do not want to do that.
