Our View:The team has only had initial conversations with Sexson's agent. He'd likely be good for a bushel of home runs in Baltimore, but it would be hard for fantasy owners to stomach the batting average that would come with it.
August 16, 2008 The Philadelphia Phillies are not interested in acquiring first baseman Richie Sexson despite their need for another power bat off the bench, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.
Our View:Why would they be? Why would anyone? Sexson has struck out 31% of his at-bats this season, and has gotten on base just 32% of the time.
August 15, 2008 As expected, Richie Sexson has been released by the Yankees, according to the AP. The club recalled outfielder Brett Gardner from Triple-A Scranton as the corresponding move.
Our View:Sexson was brought to the Yankees to improve their production against left-handed pitching, but he failed to make an impact and was too easy of an out. He only mustered 12 homers over 280 at-bats this season as well.
