Our View:Wood has been the victim of a long string of shoulder problems that limited him to just 14 starts from 2005-07. Wood's two-year deal reportedly will pay him $10 million a season and has a club option for 2011. Penciled in as the Cleveland closer, Wood should provide leadership and stability at the back end of an Indians bullpen that clearly lacked both attributes a season ago.
December 19, 2008 Kerry Wood commented on pitching in the AL with the Indians, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. Wood said, "I'm excited to get going. Coming to Cleveland is a challenge. I enjoy challenges. It never crossed my mind about switching leagues when I entered free agency. What was important was coming to a solid organization. All I heard was great things about the fans, the front office and everything top to bottom."
Our View:He previously added that he does not have the urge to move back to the rotation as a starting pitcher, and is looking forward to being the Indians' closer.

Our View:Wood got a two-year deal worth about $20 million, and there is also a vesting option for a third year. Fantasy owners can expect similar numbers to what he did in 2008.
December 10, 2008 GM Mark Shapiro stated that Kerry Wood to Cleveland is not yet a done deal, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Shapiro said, "We have obviously made progress, but it's not a done deal at this point."
Our View:If there is a deal, the Indians won't make it official until the oft-injured Wood passes a physical. The club has made him an offer for two years, and may include a vesting option for a third year.
