Newsbreakers
November 18, 2008
The Astros are trying to dump money and may be willing to deal Carlos Lee, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:He would need to waive his no-trade clause. The 32-year-old outfielder will earn $74 million through 2012. He would be expensive to acquire, but is a strong power hitter, and has topped .300 in three straight seasons.
November 11, 2008
Carlos Lee, who is recovering from a fractured finger, is on pace to be ready for spring training, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Lee will continue a workout routine that includes cardio work and weightlifting and will be re-examined in January, but is expected to have no limitations for the start of spring training. Lee was notably leading the NL with 100 RBI over 115 games prior to going down.
October 13, 2008
Carlos Lee's broken finger will not be healed for another six weeks, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:Despite the long recovery time of the finger, Lee should be ready for spring training, and ready to mash for fantasy owners once again.
September 24, 2008
Carlos Lee indicated that he won't be able to return over the Astros' final five games of the regular season, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:All six fractures haven’t yet healed on the left little finger that was smashed when he was hit by a pitch from Bronson Arroyo of the Reds. He was previously hoping to surprise the team by returning for the final weekend.
August 11, 2008
Carlos Lee underwent successful surgery on his left pinkie and was in good spirits after the 70 minute procedure was completed, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Our View:Lee had six fractures, not three as originally believed, but he needed only one pin to stabilize the finger and should heal just fine without any additional procedures, though he is still highly unlikely to play again this season.
