Newsbreakers
December 8, 2008
Roy Halladay doesn't intend to represent Team USA at the upcoming World Baseball Classic, according to the Toronto Sun. The Jays' ace hurler said, "I really don't think I will be there. I haven't talked about it with anyone, yet. But pitching in the WBC is going to make an awfully long season, especially for a pitcher like me and who likes to throw a lot of innings. It's hard to get it going that early and still be effective at the end of the year."

Our View:Halladay pitched 246 innings in 2008, and does not want to make his 2009 season longer by pitching in the WBC.
December 7, 2008
Despite rumors to the contrary, the Boston Globe reports that the Blue Jays are not the least bit interested in trading pitcher Roy Halladay.

Our View:And why would they? If it weren't for Cliff Lee's out-of-nowhere campaign, Halladay very easily could have been the Cy Young winner. As usual, fantasy owners should be in on him early amongst starting pitchers.
November 27, 2008
Roy Halladay has been named the Jays' pitcher of the year for 2008 by the Toronto chapter of the Baseball Writers' Association of America, according to Slam Sports.

Our View:He earned the honor for a record sixth time by winning 20 games, with a 2.78 ERA and 1.05 WHIP.
November 19, 2008
There is speculation that the Jays will explore the market to see what they can get for ace hurler Roy Halladay, according to the Star-Ledger. He has two-years and $30 million left on his deal with the club.

Our View:The Dodgers are viewed as a potential match for Halladay. If the Dodgers did acquire Halladay, they would likely draw their attention away from CC Sabathia and focus on retaining Manny Ramirez.
September 25, 2008
Roy Halladay tied his career best with his ninth complete game of the season, this time coming against the New York Yankees. He allowed two runs and six hits while expending just 96 pitches on the evening.

Our View:Wihtout Cliff Lee, Halladay would almost certainly get the AL Cy Young. He finished the season 20-11 with a 2.78 ERA and the aforementioned nine complete games.
