Newsbreakers
January 5, 2009
ESPN.com reports that the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a three-year, $30 million contract with Milton Bradley. The deal will become official provided Bradley passes a physical.

Our View:When healthy and mild-tempered, Bradley is one of the more skilled hitters in the game. He figures to eclipse his 2008 home run total of 22 with the unpredictable winds and cozy dimensions of Wrigley Field, as well as adequate protection in the Cubs lineup.
January 2, 2009
Buster Olney of ESPN.com reports that the Cubs could offer Milton Bradley a three-year deal worth $30 million.

Our View:Bradley was offered roughly the same amount to play with the Nationals, but it's more likely he'll sign with the Cubs.
December 31, 2008
ESPN.com reports that the Washington Nationals have offered free-agent outfielder Milton Bradley a three-year contract worth $30 million.

Our View:It will be interesting to see whether this latest development will sway Bradley, who as recently as a few weeks ago had the Chicago Cubs firmly at the top of his list of possible suitors.
December 30, 2008
Milton Bradley is close to a deal with the Cubs, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. The deal will likely not occur until Chicago can trade Jason Marquis and free up some salary.

Our View:The Cubs would look to put Bradley in left field while adding even more power to an already potent lineup.
December 23, 2008
The Cubs are confident they will be able to reel in Milton Bradley, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.

Our View:The Rays, Nationals and Yankees are among the other clubs interested in inking Bradley. He has a poor track record with durability and was limited to 126 games in 2008, but is very productive when he plays, as he held a .436 OBP with 22 homers and 77 RBI.
