The Seattle Mariners added a right handed bat on Thursday to replace the released Richie Sexson as the club traded a player to be named later to the Pirates in exchange for Craig Wilson, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Our View:Wilson was batting .230-10-27 in Triple-A this season, but with an open roster spot and some highly suspect work at both first base and DH, Wilson could end up picking up enough at-bats to give him some AL only value.

The Pirates signed Craig Wilson to a minor-league deal Tuesday. Wilson was signed by the Reds this offseason, but the deal reportedly fell through after he failed his physical. I guess you don't have to be healthy to play for the Pirates. Wilson will be returning to where he began his career, though he'll have to work his way back from Triple-A Indianapolis.

The Reds formally released Craig Wilson on Friday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He apparently failed his physical, though it wasn't clear if that was due to his surgically repaired shoulder. Wilson was supposed compete for a reserve role with the Reds.

Craig Wilson no longer is in camp with the Reds, because he apparently failed his physical, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. The Reds didn't say why he failed the physical, and GM Wanyne Krivsky was non-committal about whether Wilson would rejoin the team. He had been expected to compete for a reserve role.

Craig Wilson, who was in Florida for his physical Wednesday, was absent from the practice session Thursday morning, reports the Cincinnati Enquirer. No announcement has been made but the report suggests that Wilson might have failed his physical. Wilson would have served as a right-handed bat off the bench.
