Our View:The 32-year-old is hitting just .261 with seven home runs after an MVP-esque first half. Hopefully, he will use the offseason to refresh himself and return to typical Big Puma production. However, one has to wonder if this may be his career crossing over the hump.
September 20, 2008 Major League Baseball announced it will donate $500,000 to the victims of Hurricane Ike, according to the Houston Chronicle.
Our View:“Major League Baseball, as a social institution with important social responsibilities, has a unique platform to help those who suffered from and were displaced by Hurricane Ike,” said Commissioner Bud Selig.
September 11, 2008 The weekend series between the Cubs and the Astros is in doubt because of Hurricane Ike, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. The first two games have already been canceled. "There are various scenarios under consideration with regards to the rescheduling of the postponed games," the Astros said in a statement.
Our View:We'll keep you posted on when the games will be made up, but this obviously is a damaging blow to people in head to head weekly leagues.
