Our View:Eyre, 36, went 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 19 appearances after coming over August 7 in a trade with the Cubs and gave the Phillies a strong second lefty reliever in front of J.C. Romero.
August 29, 2008 Scott Eyre has performed better than expected for the Phillies since they acquired him from the Cubs. Eyre has made seven scoreless appearances for the Phills, according to Philly.com.
Our View:Eyre has performed well out of the pen but has no real fantasy value.
August 7, 2008 The Phillies have claimed reliever Scott Eyre, who has been designated for assignment earlier in the week by the Cubs, according to the AP. The Phillies sent right-hander Brian Schlitter to Chicago in the trade between NL division leaders.
Our View:Eyre nailed down two wins with the Cubs, but allowed nine earned runs, four walks, and 15 hits over 11.1 innings. Eyre should only be considered in deeper NL-only leagues that use middle men.
