Our View:The inflammation is gone and he is expected to make a full recovery heading into next season.
October 20, 2008 Designated hitter David Ortiz will not need offseason surgery on his left wrist. Doctors believe rest will allow Ortiz to get back to 100 percent. "He's 32 years old," general manager Theo Epstein tells The Providence Journal. "We see no reason he can't be one of the most dominant batters in baseball."
Our View:Big Papi was out from May 31 through July 25 due to a partially torn tendon in the wrist, and he battled soreness after his return. His 2009 fantasy value will be slightly depressed as a result, but he shouldn't slip too far. As Epstein notes, Ortiz should be able to return to his dominant ways.
