The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Brian Shouse has declined the Brewers' arbitration offer, so if he signs with another club, the Brewers will get one compensation pick between the first and second rounds because he is a Class B free agent.

Our View:The Brewers can still negotiate with Shouse but he has been looking for a two-year deal and they don't want to go beyond one year. Shouse, 40, was 5-1 with a 2.81 ERA in 69 appearances with the Brewers last year.

Brian Shouse covets a two-year deal, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:The Brewers would like to retain the 40-year-old reliever, but only want to commit to a one-year deal. It was previously stated that the Rockies are interested in Shouse, who held a solid 1.17 WHIP over 51.1 innings in 2008.

The Rockies are interested in reliever Brian Shouse, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:The lefty held a solid 1.17 WHIP over 51.1 innings with Milwaukee in 2008 and only gave up five homers, which would bode well for him while playing his home games at Coors Field.
May 11, 2008
The Milwaukee Brewers' showcased their new closer by committee in a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. With Eric Gagne out as the closer, the Brewers turned to Salomon Torres and Brian Shouse in the ninth. Torres allowed a leadoff double and a walk before giving way to Shouse with two outs. Shouse, a left-handed specialist, gave up an RBI single to Yadier Molina before finishing for his first save and fifth of his career.

Our View:Torres figures to get more opportunities due to his previous closer experience but he is a hit and miss option for fantasy owners.
January 9, 2008
The Brewers avoided arbitration by signing Brian Shouse to a one-year deal Wednesday. The left-handed Shouse was effective out of pen for the Brew Crew last year, holding a 3.02 ERA and 1.26 WHIP over 73 games.
