Jolbert Cabrera hit a grand slam in his only at bat on Saturday off of Carlos Marmol.

Our View:It was just the second home run of the year for the 35 year old.
August 24, 2008
As expected, Reds shortstop Jeff Keppinger was out of Sunday's starting lineup vs. the Rockies in an effort by manager Dusty Baker to give him a rest. Veteran utilityman Jolbert Cabrera started in Keppinger's place, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Baker was forced to answer questionsa about rookie infielder Adam Rosales and why he didn't get a look, but Baker reports the desire to keep him in the corner rather than a short. Rosales played 25 games at shortstop this season, 64 at third base and 19 at first base. Cabrera entered Sunday with 53 games played at shortstop over eight big league seasons, but played well there in the previous seven games this year.

Jolbert Cabrera has been activated from the 14-day disabled list after fracturing his left index finger.

Our View:Jolbert remains another solid Reds prospect. He won't see regular duty though as he will serve as Jeff Keppinger's backup for now.
July 5, 2008
Updating an earlier report, Jolbert Cabrera is indeed progressing well in his recover from a fractured left index finger, and he not only hit in the batting cage on Saturday he also plans to begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Cabrera could find himself activated late next week of the rehab process goes well now that Alex Gonzalez is lost for the year due to knee surgery.
July 5, 2008
Infielder Jolbert Cabrera hit off a batting tee on Friday. It was his first such work since suffering a compound fracture of his left index finger on June 20. he is expected to take batting practice on Saturday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Our View:Cabrera's injury required surgery, which makes this news fairly impressive. He doesn't have any fantasy value, but the Reds seem to be going through shortstops like sunflower seeds this year.
