Newsbreakers
January 6, 2009
There was a rumor circulating that the Brewers were "high" on Mark Mulder, but GM Doug Melvin stated, "I really haven't contacted his guy," according to MLB.com.

Our View:The lefty hurler has pitched in just six games over the past two seasons due to shoulder problems, but he has been linked to the Brewers several times by the Boston Globe, which stated Sunday that Milwaukee and Oakland were high on him.
January 6, 2009
The Athletics had a "casual" conversation with Mark Mulder's rep (Gregg Clifton), according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Mulder returning to Oakland is considered a vague possibility. He would likely have to accept a non-guaranteed deal, due to his poor track record with injuries.
January 4, 2009
The Boston Globe reports that the Brewers, A's, and Red Sox are among those that are interested in free-agent Mark Mulder. Mulder will be throwing in Arizona over the next two weeks.

Our View:Mulder has not been effective since 2005 and has only made six appearances in the past two seasons. His left shoulder has undergone multiple operations and it remains to be seen if he will able throw in the Majors again.
December 21, 2008
Mark Mulder feels that his arm angle is almost as high as it was before he initially injured his shoulder, according to the Boston Globe. His agent (Gregg Clifton) said, "Mark was in the office the other day and the excitement in his voice over his arm angle was pretty touching. The arm angle isn't quite as high as it was in his prime, but in his mind it is, and the fact he's come so far from where he started is so encouraging to him. He has the confidence now that he's going to pitch at a high level again."

Our View:This is encouraging news as the lefty attempts to bounce back in 2009. The Reds were previously known to be one of the teams interested in him.
November 22, 2008
Free-agent left-hander Mark Mulder is making significant progress in his recovery from shoulder surgery, according to Foxsports.com.

Our View:Mulder will not perform any activities until at least December. The Reds have been a team that is said to have some interest in the left-hander.
