Newsbreakers
April 11, 2008
Nathan Haynes continues to work on making a name for himself in Tampa as he had three hits, scored a run, and stole his third base of the season on Friday night. With injuries to Cliff Floyd and Rocco Baldelli, the Rays have AB to give, and while he likely won't unseat any of the players ahead of him on the depth chart, Haynes is shaping up to be a great waiver wire pickup in AL Only leagues.
April 3, 2008
Nathan Haynes started in right field for the Rays on Wednesday against Baltimore, and he fared decently as he went 1-for-4 with a strikeout. He was awarded the start because Eric Hinske was 3-for-21 against starting pitcher Daniel Cabrera.
April 1, 2008
Manager Joe Maddon said that when veteran Cliff Floyd needs a day off, he'll likely play Eric Hinske at DH and Nathan Haynes in right field, according to the Tampa Tribune. Haynes was claimed off waivers from the Angels last week. He offers a bit of stolen base potential and could be worth a fantasy roster spot should Floyd go down with an injury, which is certainly possible.
March 28, 2008
The Rays claimed Nathan Haynes off waivers from the Angels Friday. Haynes will back up at all three outfield positions and has virtually no fantasy value.
May 28, 2007
The Angels called up Nathan Haynes from Triple-A on Monday, according to the AP. Hayens, 27, hit .391 with four homers and 32 RBI at Salt Lake. He's unlikely to see much playing time.
