December 3, 2008
The San Francisco Giants have signed reliever Bob Howry to a one-year deal worth $2.75 million, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Howry was with the Cubs last season, and struggled to the tune of a 5.35 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. He had good control, walking only 1.66 BB/9, but allowed too many hits, and ended up with a 11.46 H/9.

The Giants are reportedly interested in free agent reliever Bob Howry, according to the SF Chronicle.

Our View:Howry was a former draft pick of the Giants, and the club is believed to be looking for bullpen help in free agency. Howry held a 5.35 ERA and 1.46 WHIP over 70.2 innings of relief with the Cubs in 2008, but was able to nail down seven wins.

Bob Howry has struggled most of the season, but that doesn't mean skipper Lou Pinella has given up on him, according to The Daily Herald. "I've been resting Bob as much as I can to get him as strong as we possibly can," Piniella said. "He's had some struggles, but nobody's immune from them. I like his experience, too."

Our View:Sounds like Mr. Howry could have a busy post-season if the Cubs go deep into October baseball. Howry has been awful since the All-Star break with a 6.46 ERA and 1.73 WHIP in 26 appearances, so hopefully Pinella looks at the numbers before blindly running this guy out there.
September 2, 2008
Cubs reliever Bob Howry has had better days. He did not get a single Houston Astro out, but he did let four of them score in the sixth inning of the Astros 9-7 win.

Our View:Howry's ERA is now at 5.62, and he has no fantasy value right now, even in leagues that utilize middle relievers.
July 29, 2008
Cubs reliever Bob Howry has really struggled in the month of July, with a 7.30 ERA on the month, as he has given up four home runs, according to Cubs.com.

Our View:Howry's overall ERA is up to 5.29, and he is not performing as he had in previous years. If you have him on your fantasy team for holds, it's time to look in a different direction until he can get out of this funk.
