June 15, 2008 Danny Ardoin, who is back in the majors for the first time since September 2006, has been serving as Russell Martin's backup with veteran Gary Bennett on the disabled list. Ardoin is starting this afternoon for Martin and hitting ninth.
Our View:Ardoin has seen very little action since being called up on May 20th. He has 10 at-bats, two hits and two RBI.
June 7, 2008 Danny Ardoin might be named Hiroki Kuroda's personal catcher, according to MLB.com. "It's tempting. I will look at it," manager Joe Torre said. "I think just to, what I saw in Chicago and again here last night is pretty impressive."
Our View:In two starts catching Kuroda, the Japanese import has allowed just one run in 15.1 innings. Gary Bennett's recovery from plantar fasciitis and a battle with the yips is going well, but he might have an extended stay in the minors if the club goes with Ardoin.
May 27, 2008 Danny Ardoin will make his first start of 2008 tonight at Wrigley Field against the Cubs, according to MLB.com. Russell Martin will get the night off, and Ardoin will catch Hiroki Kuroda.
Our View:He was hitting great at Triple-A Las Vegas, but is not worth acquiring for his first start of the season tonight.
May 20, 2008 Veteran backup catcher Danny Ardoin, who is hitting the cover off the ball at Triple-A Las Vegas, had his contract purchased by the Dodgers today. Ardoin took the roster spot of catcher Gary Bennett, who was placed on the 15-day DL with plantar fasciitis.
Our View:To make room for Ardoin onto the 40-man roster, the team had to move Jason Schmidt to the 60-day DL.
March 27, 2007 The Nationals traded Danny Ardoin to the Astros Monday in exchange for minor league infielder Wade Robinson, according to the Washington Post. Ardoin may have a shot at the backup catcher job in Houston.
