December 17, 2008 Reliever Dave Borkowski was one of 10 players who were signed by the Philadelphia Phillies and given an invitation to spring training, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The others: CI Mike Cervenak, SS Ozzie Chavez, UTIL J.J. Furmaniak, P Mike Koplove, P Justin Lehr, P Blaine Neal, 3B Terry Tiffee, 1B Andy Tracy and OF Chris Walker.
Our View:Borkowski spent time with Houston this year, throwing 36 innings and posting a hideous 7.50 ERA and equally bad 1.89 WHIP. All the others spent the whole year in the minors, except for Furmaniak, who did not play at all last year.

Our View:Borkowski was 2-2 with two saves and a 2.43 ERA at Round Rock over 27 outings. He has a 7.45 ERA and 1.90 WHIP over 29 innings with Houston this season. The reliever holds no fantasy value.
