August 17, 2008 Gary Glover has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo, according to the AP. Todd Jones has been placed on the 15-day DL as the adjoining move.
Our View:The Tigers signed Glover as a minor league free agent August 9. He has pitched four scoreless innings and struck out four batters in three appearances with Toledo. He will work in middle relief, and does not merit fantasy consideration in standard leagues.
July 28, 2008 MLB.com reports that Gary Glover has been activated from the DL and designated for assignment. He was on the DL with a calf strain.
Our View:Glover has not been very good in middle relief this year. He has a 5.82 ERA and a 1.76 WHIP. He does not often pitch with the lead so his fantasy value is negligible,
May 2, 2008 The Rays placed Gary Glover on the DL Friday with right shoulder tendinitis, according to the Tampa Tribune. Outfielder Justin Ruggiano replaces Glover on the roster.
Our View:Glover has somehow managed to post a 1.69 ERA in nine games despite a 4/7 K/BB rate. He'll likely be replaced in the bullpen by Jason Hammel, who is expected to be moved to relief when Scott Kazmir is activated Sunday.
December 13, 2007 Gary Glover re-signed with the Rays Thursday, agreeing to a one-year deal. He held a 4.89 ERA in a team-high 77 1/3 innings last season.
July 5, 2007 Gary Glover will probably get the first chance to close games for the Devil Rays while Al Reyes is out. Glover was slated to close Wednesday if the Devil Rays had a ninth-inning lead, but the club went on to lose its 10th straight game, 7-5 at Boston. Like most of the relievers in front of Reyes this year, Glover has not pitched particularly well, with a 5.36 ERA and 1.48 ratio. The rotator cuff injury to Reyes is considered minor, for what it's worth.
