March 19, 2008 The Nationals reassigned Alex Escobar and Humberto Cota to minor league camp on Tuesday, the Washington Post confirms. Cota refused the assignment and became a free agent.
September 1, 2007 Alex Escobar will have to wait until next season to play in a game. He's slated to undergo ankle surgery that will rule him out for the remainder of this campaign, according to the Washington Post. Offseason shoulder surgery and the ankle problem kept Escobar from taking part in any games this year, so hopefully he'll be able to get back in the mix next season.
