Brewers reliever David Riske is no longer with the team, and he is scheduled to undergo surgery on September 23 to remove a bone spur from his elbow, according to the AP.

Our View:That would explain Riske's awfulness this season, as he has sported a 5.32 ERA, with a frightening K/BB ratio of 27/25.
September 10, 2008
Brewers reliever David Riske has been pitching with a bone spur in his right elbow, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View:Riske has not been a very good investment for the Brewers, who signed him as a free agent in the offseason. He has an ERA of 5.32 and WHIP of 1.70 and thus, no fantasy value whatsoever.
June 19, 2008
The Brewers activated David Riske from the DL Thursday. Riske has been out with a hyperextended right elbow.

Our View:Riske will go back into a setup role for the Brew Crew. Julian Tavarez was designated for assignment to make room on the roster.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that there's a good chance reliever David Riske will take part in only one rehabilitation session with Triple-A Nashville. Riske, on the disabled list while recovering from an elbow injury, struck out all three batters he faced Tuesday night. "We'll re-evaluate it (today)," Yost said. "There's some talk (about pitching just once). We'll see how he feels." After three strikeouts, Riske probably was feeling pretty good.

Our View:The original plan was for Riske to pitch again Thursday for the Sounds but manager Ned Yost said he might be brought back and activated after one outing.
June 17, 2008
David Riske struck out all three batters he faced in his one inning during a rehab outing for Triple-A Nashville. "Riske, now there is something to talk about," manager Ned Yost said on MLB.com. "His outing [on Saturday] when he threw the sim game was very impressive. We know he's going to come back. He's back to being [himself]." Riske is coming back from a hyperextended right elbow.

Our View:Depending on how he feels tomorrow, Riske could have one more rehab appearance, or he could make his next appearance for the Brew Crew.
