Newsbreakers
October 24, 2008
Kip Wells has asked for his unconditional release from the Kansas City Royals, according to the AP.

Our View:Wells, who spent last season with both the Rockies and the Royals, was eligible to be a free agent, but will be off of the Kansas City 40-man roster earlier with this move.
August 19, 2008
Kip Wells has been signed by the Kansas City Royals and will become a part of the team's bullpen, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Wells has no fantasy value. He hasn't had much value to his teams in recent years, either, and is on his third squad in under two seasons.
August 18, 2008
The Royals are interested in Kip Wells, who was recently designated for assignment by the Rockies, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Wells has been horrible in two starts this year but has been much better in relief. Still, it's puzzling why a team like the Royals would have interest.
August 10, 2008
Kip Wells has been designated for assignment, according to the AP.

Our View:Wells struggled this season, with a 5.27 ERA and 1.76 WHIP over 27.1 innings, and held little fantasy value prior to his designation.
July 25, 2008
The Rocky Mountain News suggests that Kip Wells could be demoted to the bullpen after getting rocked for seven earned runs against the Angels in his last start on July 21.

Our View:Wells' next start would have been Tuesday in Pittsburgh, but the Rockies could add a player through a trade or could decide to give a one-start look at current Triple-A starters Jason Hirsh, Franklin Morales, or Greg Reynolds. Wells has proven that he is better suited for the bullpen.
