Newsbreakers
December 10, 2008
Fox Sports is reporting that the Phillies would like to deal starter Adam Eaton. The Phillies will deal Eaton to any team that will take on $1 million of the $9 million he is due for the final guaranteed season of a three-year contract. The Phillies want nothing in return.

Our View:Eaton was 4-8 with a 5.80 ERA this season and spent part of the year in the minors. The Phillies did not include him on the postseason roster.
September 1, 2008
Adam Eaton, J.A. Happ, Greg Golson and Lou Marson were recalled from the minors on Monday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:In fairness, none of these moves means anything from a fantasy perspective, but we want to be thorough so here you go. Don't look for Eaton, the biggest name here, to pitch any important innings, at least in the short term.
August 27, 2008
Phillies pitcher Adam Eaton has not been good since being demoted to the minor leagues, with a combined 0-4 record and 7.41 ERA in Single-A and Double-A appearances, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. The Phillies do expect him to rejoin the squad on September 1, however.

Our View:Eaton has been an unmitigated disaster this season, disappointing the Phillies and fantasy owners alike. He has a 5.80 ERA with just four wins and eight losses.
July 28, 2008
The Phillies have demoted Adam Eaton to the minors, the Sports Network confirms. Eaton accepted the option, and the report did not say where he will be headed.

Our View:Something had to give following the Joe Blanton trade and the return of Brett Myers. The Phillies continue to look at other trades to bolster their bullpen. It'll be mildly interesting to see if Eaton continues as a starter or reliever. Either way, we don't expect any fantasy value.
July 18, 2008
Phillies pitcher Adam Eaton has been moved out of the rotation and into the bullpen to make room for newly acquired Joe Blanton, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Eaton has been bad, with an ERA of 5.71 and only three wins in 19 starts. He should not have been on anyone's fantasy team before this, and certainly should not be now.
