The Mariners designated Carl Everett for assignment on Wednesday, according to the AP. Everett was hitting just .227 but did have 11 homers in 308 at-bats. The M's now have 10 days to trade or release Everett. Everett was in a platoon with Eduardo Perez at DH, and Greg Dobbs and Chris Snelling are expected to get extra playing time now.

Carl Everett will platoon with Eduardo Perez at designated hitter for the Mariners, according to the AP. Everett, who is hitting .169 against lefties this season, will get the nod when right-handers take the mound.

Carl Everett is expected to sit for the majority of the Mariners' interleague games in National League parks, according to the Seattle Times. "When we go without a DH, Carl will be the odd man out," manager Mike Hargrove said.

Carl Everett, who is hitting just .170 right-handed, did not start against left-hander John Koronka on Wednesday, according to the Seattle Times. It appears as though he won't start against lefties in the near future as the Mariners try to improve their .220 team average against left-handed pitching. Richie Sexson served as the DH Wednesday while Mike Morse got the start at first base.
