With pitching coach Mike Maddux now in Texas, the Rangers are the likely favorites to sign Eric Gagne, according to Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown.

Our View:Don't bet on Gagne being the closer (Frank Francisco is the favorite for that gig). His numbers were ugly overall in 2008, but he did pitch well over the last two months.
September 25, 2008
Brewers reliever Eric Gagne purchased 5,000 tickets to Thursday's game against the Pirates, and will be giving them away free of charge to fans, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "No matter what happens over these next four games, I want everyone to know that I think the world of Brewers fans," Gagne said in a statement.

Our View:He may think the world of Brewers fans, but they probably don't think the world of him. He signed a one-year, $10 million contract with the team, and promptly started blowing saves left and right. He has a 5.56 ERA on the year, and has allowed 11 home runs in 45.1 innings.
September 1, 2008
Eric Gagne blew his sixth save of the year on his way to falling to 4-3 for the Brewers. Gagne allowed three runs on four hits, including a two run blast to Carlos Delgado to lose the game.

Our View:Gagne has been one of the biggest busts of the year as he can't even function in a setup role (6.81 ERA). You think that the Brewers might want their $10 million back? We know fantasy leaguers want their $10 back that they spent on him on draft day.
August 29, 2008
Eric Gagne has returned to the Brewers' bullpen Friday after attending to the birth of his son, according to Brewers.com.

Our View:He should be available to pitch tonight against Pittsburgh.
July 31, 2008
Milwaukee reliever Eric Gagne faced one hitter and wound up getting ejected after throwing behind Cubs outfielder Jim Edmonds, who had hit two home runs on the day.

Our View:The first three pitches of the at-bat were inside, and the fourth was a foot behind Edmonds. Brewers manager Ned Yost made a lame attempt to defend his hurler, but the intent was obvious.
