Newsbreakers
September 24, 2008
Michael Young, who has been battling an injured finger, went 4-for-4 on Wednesday against the Athletics. He racked up two doubles, two singles, two runs, and two RBI.

Our View:Young's batting average is just .283, which is the first time since 2002 that he will hit less than .306 in a season. He is an across the board contributer, but 2008 has been a down year for him. His 79 RBI are 15 less than what he finished with last season.

Texas shortstop Michael Young is out of the lineup on Sunday, as he needs another day to rest his injured finger, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

Our View:That's a shame, because he batters the opposing pitcher, John Lackey of the Angels, to the tune of a .370 career average.

Michael Young is battling a right finger injury and was out Saturday, but he is still going to see playing time the rest of the season, and Sunday would be a good time to get him in, as he crushes Angels starter John Lackey to the tune of a .370 average, two home runs and 13 RBI in his career.

Our View:Young's been pretty large disappointment this season, and his average is now below .280, but hopefully he can help make some of that up to fantasy owners Sunday off Lackey.

The Detroit News reports that Michael Young left Wednesday's game against the Tigers after aggravating his injured right hand. Young has played the past few weeks with a fractured right ring finger and a cyst on his right wrist.

Our View:The five-time All-Star is 4-for-30 over his past eight games, but he had the go-ahead single in Texas' 11-8 win over Detroit on Monday night.
September 17, 2008
Michael Young's MRI on his right wrist and ring finger back with no problems, according to the Dallas Morning News. Young said, "I couldn't have asked for anything better. All it needs is time, which I'll get in a couple weeks."

Our View:Young is playing through the injury, but only registered four hits (with one RBI) over his last seven games.
