Royals second baseman Mark Grudzielanek suffered a torn deltoid ligament in his ankle, and though the MRI he recently took showed healing, it is not enough that he will be able to return this season, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:Grudzielanek's season was solid though not spectacular. He likely helped fantasy owners in AL-only leagues with his .299 average, but offered little else.

Mark Grudzielanek will undergo an MRI next week to examine his injured right ankle, according to the KC Star. He said, "I’m going to have an MRI next week. It will be my fourth in four weeks. Once we see that, we will see how much healing its done and go from there."

Our View:He is unsure if he will be able to play again this season, and hasn’t done a lot since he tore his deltoid ligament in his right ankle when he collided with Ross Gload on a pop up. He is certain he will return next season, however.

Mark Grudzielanek is likely done for the year after revealing on Wednesday that he has a torn deltoid ligament on the left side of his right ankle, according to MLB.com. "I'd be pressed to get back this year," he said.

Our View:Esteban German will handle the second base duties while Grudzielanek is out. If he is in fact done, Grudz will end the year with a .299 batting average.
August 2, 2008
Royals second baseman Mark Grudzielanek has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after he sprained his right ankle, according to The Sports Network.

Our View:Grudzielanek doesn't offer much to mixed league fantasy players, but those in AL-only leagues will have to find a suitable replacement in the meantime.
August 1, 2008
Mark Grudzielanek had a collision with Ross Gload on Friday night that forced him to the bench, according to MLB.com. Grudzielanek left the game sporting a limp in his left leg. David DeJesus also left the game in the seventh inning though no reason was announced.

Our View:With Jose Guillen already ailing, Esteban German would figure to see additional time in the outfield if DeJesus needs to miss a couple of days. Of course, German could also end up at second base if Grudzielanek were to miss any time, or the team could turn to Tony Pena Jr. as well.
