Newsbreakers
May 21, 2008
Manager John McLaren told the Seattle Times Wednesday that he wants to match the pitching and catching batteries that work together when he can. That means Jamie Burke will start tonight with Jarrod Washburn on the hill, and Burke will also catch Erik Bedard for the foreseeable future.

Our View:Burke can't hit a lick, so he's pretty useless in fantasy. Of course, Kenji Johjima is really struggling with the bat, as well.
May 2, 2008
Jamie Burke is in the lineup tonight against the Yankees and playing catcher. Usual starter, Kenji Johjima, is struggling at the plate and is on the bench for the second straight night.

Our View:Burke has the pleasure of facing Chien-Ming Wang, who has a 6-0 lifetime record against the Mariners, and is in the best form of his American career.
April 9, 2008
Catcher Jamie Burke put his best foot forward in Seattle’s 7-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays this evening, going 2-for-3 at the plate and hitting his first homer of the season off J.P. Howell in the 8th inning. Burke picked up three RBIs on the evening, his first three of the season, and now owns a batting average of .375 in limited action this season.
March 29, 2007
Unless the Mariners pull off an unexpected trade, Jamie Burke should break camp as the backup catcher for the Mariners, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. He had been competing with Rene Rivera, who was optioned to the minors yesterday.
May 13, 2005
Designated for assignment by the White Sox, Jamie Burke cleared waivers yesterday and was outrighted to Triple-A Charlotte, according to the Daily Southtown.
