The St. Louis Cardinals have signed pitching coach Dave Duncan to a one-year deal with an option for another season, according to Bernie Miklasz of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:If Duncan isn't the best pitching coach in the game, you'll have to convince us who is. Who else could turn Kent Bottenfield into a 18-win pitcher? Or turn Jeff Weaver into a dominant postseason pitcher?

Adam Wainwright will finish the year 11-3 after Wednesday night's victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. It was a shaky outing for Wainwright who lasted six innings, walked five and gave up seven hits.

Our View:Wainwright missed two-plus months of the season, otherwise he would have been one of the best fantasy pitchers going. He finishes the year with a 3.20 ERA and has certified his reputation as the Cardinals' ace.
September 13, 2008
Adam Wainwright was rocked for six earned runs on nine hits over four innings of work in Saturday's 7-6 loss to the Pirates, with two walks and three strikeouts. He also went 2-for-3 at the plate with a run scored.

Our View:Wainwright was dealt a no decision, and his ERA jumps from 2.85 to 3.20. He is 4-0 over his last six starts, and has allowed two or less runs in each game over the span. He has only taken three losses over 18 starts, and should bounce back fine in his next outing.
September 7, 2008
Adam Wainwright had a great outing against the Marlins, throwing eight innings and allowing just one run on six hits while striking out six in the Cardinals 3-1 win.

Our View:Since coming back from the DL, Wainwright is 3-0 with a 1.43 ERA in four starts. His fantasy stock for 2009 goes up with each outing.
September 4, 2008
The St. Louis Cardinals may push pitcher Adam Wainwright's next start back a day so he can pitch the first game in a series with the Chicago Cubs, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:This move would allow the Cardinals to use their two best pitchers, Wainwright and Lohse, in the Cubs series. Though they are realistically out of the division race, it wouldn't hurt having their ace go up against the Cubs powerful lineup.
