Newsbreakers
September 6, 2008
Freddy Sanchez returned to the starting lineup on Saturday and went 4-for-5. He scored twice and added two RBI in the Pirates' 7-6 loss to the Giants.

Our View:Sanchez has had a down year but seems to step it up now that the games mean absolutely nothing. He hit .318 in August and is coming in at .500 for September. Invest at your own risk.
September 5, 2008
Freddy Sanchez sat out of the starting lineup Thursday as a precaution after being hit by a pitch on the underside of his right forearm near the heel of his hand Wednesday night, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He said, "Usually, the day after is when it's the sorest."

Our View:He did make an appearance as a pinch-hitter in the ninth inning, and should be ready to play tonight.
September 4, 2008
Freddy Sanchez returned to the Pirates lineup on Wednesday, after an MRI on his aching right shoulder found nothing wrong, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Sanchez has dropped a long way in the eyes of fantasy owners, who recall with fondness when he won the NL batting title. No longer that player, Sanchez should not be on fantasy rosters, as not only is his batting average below .300 (at .257), so is his OBP (.282).
August 16, 2008
Freddy Sanchez went 3-for-5 against the Mets on Saturday. He is 33-for-89 (.371) since the All-Star break.

Our View:Sanchez has been dealing with right shoulder issues all season, and many fantasy owners justifiably gave up on him. His work since mid-July, though, makes us believe he is worth another look.
August 14, 2008
Freddy Sanchez returned to the Pirates' lineup Wednesday after missing two games due to lingering inflammation in the right rotator cuff, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:He went 0-for-4 in the game against the Reds Wednesday, and hopefully he will bounce back before the start of the next fantasy week.
