Pitcher Macay McBride signed a contract with the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, according to the Detroit Free-Press.

Our View:McBride missed all of 2008 after tearing a ligament in his elbow. He has no fantasy value as a left-handed reliever who will battle for a roster spot in the spring.

Macay McBride was called up from Triple-A Wednesday, taking Mike Gonzalez's spot on the roster. He'll probably work in front of Bob Wickman and Rafael Soriano.

The Braves have converted Macay McBride, who was demoted on April 14 due to control problems, to a starting role at Triple-A Richmond, but manager Bobby Cox said it was only because McBride needed to build up innings in order to get his confidence back, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. McBride walked 11 in his three innings with the Braves this year, but he didn't issue a free pass in his three innings yesterday for Richmond.
