Newsbreakers
September 21, 2008
Jack Hannahan's injured ribcage could sideline him for the rest of the season, according to the Athletics Official Website. "Jack is out. It's an injury in the ribcage and he was very sore this morning," manager Bob Geren said. "He's definitely going to be out three or four days and possibly the rest of the season."

Our View:Hannahan is almost certainly done and he will finish with a terrible .218/.305/.342 line having not proven his ability to be a starter in this league. In his stead, the team will go with Donnie Murphy and Jeff Baisley who started on Sunday.

Oakland and Tampa Bay hooked it up this evening to battle with the A's emerging with a dominating 8-1 win, led by the bat of third baseman Jack Hannahan . Hannahan went 2-for-4 with his fifth homer of the season, posting four RBIs with one run scored on the night.

Our View:The team has stood by Hannahan despite struggles at the dish, hitting a lowly .189 last month. Through July he is paying them back with improved returns, hitting .268.
July 12, 2008
Jack Hannahan went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored on Friday night.

Our View:That's all well-and-good, but the A's would really like to have Eric Chavez back. Hannahan is hitting just .223.
May 25, 2008
Oakland third baseman Jack Hannahan was involved in four of the six runs the A's scored today to put the Red Sox in the loss column, 6-3. Hannahan went 2-for-5 on the day, both singles, gathering two RBIs and two runs scored on the day.

Our View:Hannahan has struggled to provide the spark you'd hope to see from a leadoff hitter, now sitting at .239 for the month of May with just seven RBIs and 19 strikeouts.
March 25, 2008
Jack Hannahan started at third base in Oakland's season opener against Boston, and filled the injured Eric Chavez's shoes nicely as he went 2-for-4 with two RBI, which included a solo home run. He could be a favorable handcuff until you get Chavez back into your lineup.
