The Orioles designated reliever Ryan Bukvich for assignment on Saturday, the Baltimore Sun reports.

Our View:It was a nice run. Wait, no it wasn't. Bukvich posted a 6.75 ERA and 2.81 WHIP over 5.1 innings. Nice work, Ryan.

The Orioles have purchased the contract of reliever Ryan Bukvich from Triple-A Norfolk, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Bukvich, who has pitched in the big leagues in each of the last five seasons, is likely to contribute as a long reliever. The right-hander was starting at Norfolk, where he had compiled a 5-2 record and a 3.45 ERA. Bukvich said that most of his professional experience has come out of the bullpen and that he won't have to make much of an adjustment. To make room on the roster, Baltimore has designated Freddie Bynum for assignment.

Ryan Bukvich has not recorded an out in his last four appearances, having faced nine batters, the AP reports. You wonder why the White Sox keep giving him the ball - he's worked four times in the last week.

The White Sox purchased the contract of Ryan Bukvich from Triple-A Charlotte on Monday, according to the AP. He was 1-3 with a 2.89 ERA and had nine saves in 23 games for the Knights.

Ryan Bukvich, who is recovering from from Tommy John surgery, is scheduled to throw two innings in an extended spring training game today, according to the Dallas Morning News. Barring any setbacks, he will pitch in back-to-back simulated games Friday and Saturday, as well. He could be activated at Triple-A Oklahoma next week.
