The Orioles purchased the contract of Cory Morris Sunday to expand their pitching staff to 12 pitchers, according to the AP. "We still felt we needed some (bullpen) insurance. We just needed another pitcher," manager Sam Perlozzo said Sunday. Morris, who went 1-1 with a 5.27 ERA in seven spring training appearances, will be used in middle relief.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Cory Morris has pitched himself into consideration for a role in the Orioles bullpen, perhaps in long relief. "Some guys come into camp and make a leap, and he's definitely made a leap," said Orioles executive vice president Mike Flanagan. "He's gotten on our radar." Morris, a starter throughout his minor league career, has a 2.70 ERA and five strikeouts in 10 innings this spring.
