Andy Marte underwent an MRI Saturday, which confirmed the initial diagnosis of a strained left calf, according to the Akron Beacon Journal. Head trainer Lonnie Soloff said, "He will remain in Cleveland and receive treatment at Progressive Field through Thursday. After that, he will relocate to Arizona and stay there until he can resume baseball activity."

Our View:The strain is minor and he is believed to be ready to go in about two to four weeks. Marte has solid power potential, but is yet to display it with only three homers over 235 at-bats in 2008.

Indians third baseman Andy Marte will not suit up the rest of the season as he will need an MRI on his left calf, which he hurt getting out of the batter's box, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Our View:Marte has had an especially disappointing season, and the former top prospect is now a major suspect. He holds an abysmal .211-9-52 line in 513 career major-league at-bats.
September 23, 2008
Indians third baseman Andy Marte had a problem getting out of the batter's box in the third inning, and was forced to leave the game with a strained calf, according to The Sports Network.

Our View:Marte has been as useless as tonsils for most of the season. Though he was once a big-time prospect, it's hard to imagine anyone getting too excited about him now.
August 25, 2008
Andy Marte went 2-for-4 with a double, helping the Indians to a 4-3 win over Detroit, and getting his batting average ever closer to the .200 mark. It now rests at .197.

Our View:Marte now has a modest three-game hitting streak, raising his average from .186 to it's current mark. Needless to say, he is not an appropriate option in fantasy leagues.
August 5, 2008
Andy Marte went 1-for-4 with a double on Tuesday night, and the hit ended an 0-for-20 slump.

Our View:Marte is out of options, and the Indians are likely to let him keep starting over the next month. What do they have to lose? Marte has yet to show us why he was such a highly regarded prospect.
