August 4, 2008
St. Louis outfielder Chris Duncan underwent successful surgery on his neck to replace a cervical disc, reports The Sports Network.

Our View:Best-case scenario is Duncan getting back in three to four months. He's obviously out for the year, and will try to make it back for spring training next season.
August 2, 2008
Cardinals outfielder Chris Duncan will undergo surgery to install a prosthetic disc in place of a herniated disc in his neck and is out for the regular season, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The procedure is relatively new and thought never to be done on an athlete before. It has been called something that could be career threatening.

Our View:While he is certainly not a fan favorite in St. Louis, and of little consequence in fantasy baseball, you don't want to see someone's career end so early because of injury.
August 1, 2008
Cardinals outfielder Chris Duncan may have to undergo surgery at some point to correct a herniated disc in his neck that has been troubling him, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:It's possible Duncan could miss the rest of the season, but fantasy players won't miss him much, as he has struggled to a .246 average with just six home runs and 27 RBI.
July 22, 2008
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Chris Duncan was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday with a pinched nerve in his back.

Our View:Duncan had been hitting slightly better since his return from a couple weeks down in the minors. He played last night and there was no apparent injury suffered in the game. The Cardinals recalled OF Joe Mather from Triple-A.
June 19, 2008
Chris Duncan, who went hitless in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Royals, is hitting .234 on the season. His power numbers have taken a huge hit from a year ago. The Cardinals outfielder/first baseman has only nine extra base hits in 158 at-bats. His slugging percentage was .348 coming into Thursday's action.

Our View:Chris Duncan is 5-for-31 with one RBI since being recalled from the minors to play first base for the injured Albert Pujols.
