Adam Loewen's transition from the mound to the field is under way in Hawaii, according to MLB.com. Loewen has been sharpening his hitting skills in the batter's box and getting used to wearing a first baseman's glove.

Our View:The Blue Jays note that he is a work in progress, as he is hitting .200 over 15 at-bats with the West Oahu CaneFires.

Adam Loewen signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, according to the AP.

Our View:Both the Mariners and Loewen's former team the Orioles had also been interested in him. He's making a transition from a pitcher to an outfielder.

Thursday it was reported that teams other than the Orioles were interested in bringing Adam Loewen in as a minor league outfielder. Friday, it has been reported by the Toronto Sun that the Blue Jays and Mariners both have interest in Loewen.

Our View:The Blue Jays would be an interesting choice for Loewen, how is a native of Canada and is the highest drafted Canadian player ever.

MASN Sports reports that the Orioles are not the only team interested in signing Adam Loewen as a hitter. He was released by Baltimore on October 20th.

Our View:Loewen's situation is similar to that of Rick Ankiel of the St. Louis Cardinals. Ankiel was called up in 2007 by the Cardinals, and provided some power down the stretch. In 2008, he was the Cardinals' primary center fielder when healthy, hitting 25 home runs in 120 games.

The Orioles released Adam Loewen on Monday, the Baltimore Sun reports. The pitcher is in the early stages of attempting to come back as an outfielder.

Our View:The Orioles will likely give Loewen a minor league deal this winter and let him work through their system. He is only 24, so youth is on his side while he makes this tough switch.
