Newsbreakers
December 9, 2008
The Boston Globe is reporting that the Kansas City Royals and Atlanta Braves have had serious discussions about a trade that would send outfielder Jeff Francoeur to the Royals for pitcher Zack Greinke.

Our View:Current Royals GM Dayton Moore is a former member of the Braves organization and is eager to bring Francouer to Kansas City. The outfielder hit .239 last season, while the pitcher looked like a exceptional No. 2 starter.
November 6, 2008
Despite rumors that he might be headed to Kansas City, Jeff Francoeur appears most likely to remain with the Braves after a club official said that there have been no internal discussions about moving the right fielder, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View:Francoeur is coming off his worst season (.239-11-71), so trading him at this point makes little sense for the Braves who likely wouldn't get much in return. Francoeur is at that make or break point of his career, so success in '09 is of paramount importance for the rifle armed right fielder.
November 5, 2008
The Braves are believed to be willing to trade outfielder Jeff Francoeur, and Royals' GM Dayton Moore is known to be a fan, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:There is speculation that the Royals would not give up Zack Greinke for Francoeur, but may consider offering Luke Hochevar, Danny Cortes, or Mark Teahen in a deal.
September 27, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in the Braves' 11-5 win over the Astros.

Our View:It has been a tumultuous season for Francoeur, who was even sent down to Double-A to try and get his swing back. It will be interesting to see what the Braves will do with the local product in the offseason.
September 13, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets at Shea Stadium. His hit was a single.

Our View:Francoeur racked up eight RBI over 11 games in September. He has been a grave disappointment this season, but looks to close out the season favorably.
