Despite rumors that he might be headed to Kansas City, Jeff Francoeur appears most likely to remain with the Braves after a club official said that there have been no internal discussions about moving the right fielder, according to MLBlogs.com.

Our View:Francoeur is coming off his worst season (.239-11-71), so trading him at this point makes little sense for the Braves who likely wouldn't get much in return. Francoeur is at that make or break point of his career, so success in '09 is of paramount importance for the rifle armed right fielder.
November 5, 2008
The Braves are believed to be willing to trade outfielder Jeff Francoeur, and Royals' GM Dayton Moore is known to be a fan, according to the Kansas City Star.

Our View:There is speculation that the Royals would not give up Zack Greinke for Francoeur, but may consider offering Luke Hochevar, Danny Cortes, or Mark Teahen in a deal.
September 27, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles and three RBI in the Braves' 11-5 win over the Astros.

Our View:It has been a tumultuous season for Francoeur, who was even sent down to Double-A to try and get his swing back. It will be interesting to see what the Braves will do with the local product in the offseason.
September 13, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 1-for-4 with a pair of RBI in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Mets at Shea Stadium. His hit was a single.

Our View:Francoeur racked up eight RBI over 11 games in September. He has been a grave disappointment this season, but looks to close out the season favorably.
September 11, 2008
Even though the Braves won on Thursday night it was not a good night for Jeff Francoeur. A small army was left on base by Francoeur tonight, who stranded eight runners. Francoeur was 0-for-4, while striking out once.

Our View:It has been a rough year for Francoeur at the plate. His average is down to .232 and continues to slide, he is not worth being in your starting lineup.
September 5, 2008
Jeff Francoeur left Friday night's game after being hit by a pitch on his hand.

Our View:We will update the once-fantasy-relevant Francouer's status as more is known. In fairness, he has recorded 63 RBI and 59 runs this season...despite hitting .231.
September 2, 2008
A three-run home run was the contribution made by Braves outfielder Jeff Francoeur in the Braves 16-14 win over the Marlins. He was 1-for-5 and scored twice.

Our View:Francoeur has been beyond bad this season, and his on-base percentage remains embarrassingly below .300. Fantasy owners should have moved on long ago.
August 19, 2008
Jeff Francoeur has a quality match-up tonight when he faces off against Mets hurler Oliver Perez. Francoeur has a career .350 batting average against the lefty, with two home runs in 20 at-bats.

Our View:Francoeur has had an awful season, much to the disappointment of fantasy owners who used a relatively high pick on him. The outfielder has just a .203 average in August, but if you have him on your NL-only squad, tonight may be a good night to use him.
August 16, 2008
Jeff Francoeur is on fire! He went 4-for-5 with a double, two runs, and two RBI in Saturday's win over the Giants. Francoeur also had three hits on Thursday.

Our View:Frenchy continues to have a nightmare season, and we're happy to report any signs of life in his bat.
August 14, 2008
He's alive! Just when many fantasy owners had given up all hope, Jeff Francoeur puts in a great night with a 3-for-5 performance, featuring a home run, two runs scored and three RBI in the Braves 11-7 loss to Chicago.

Our View:Francoeur's season has been beyond awful, and his August was even worse, as he was hitting just .108 for the month before tonight.
August 5, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 0-for-3 with one RBI, as his season long struggles continue.

Our View:Francoeur been a major bust this season for fantasy players, and there seems to be no end in sight. Time to cut bait if you haven't already.
August 3, 2008
Jeff Francoeur had a hit and an RBI on Sunday in the Braves 5-0 victory over the Brewers.

Our View:Francoeur has one home run in 40 games. How is that possible for a guy who has averaged 24 home runs the past two years? Francoeur is simply lost at the plate right now and is hitting only .217 over his last 16 games.
July 24, 2008
MLB.com reports that Jeff Francoeur is available but it's not likely there are many owners that want him. He is batting .231 with a .286 OBP.

Our View:Francoeur's on-base percentage trails all but three Major League outfielders with at least 300 at-bats, surpassing only Oakland's Emil Brown (.287), Minnesota's Carlos Gomez (.282) and Houston's Michael Bourn (.282). Former Braves employee and current Kansas City GM Dayton Moore may be a potential suitor.
July 10, 2008
Jeff Francoeur was 1-for-3 with a home run and RBI in the Braves loss to the Dodgers on Wednesday night.

Our View:Maybe Francoeur's miniature demotion to the minor leagues helped him get off the snide. He is still having a miserable season, though fantasy players should keep an eye an him to see if he heats up.
July 7, 2008
Jeff Francoeur has been called back up for tonight's game in Los Angeles, and his minor league stint in Double-A lasted only three days, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View:He went 7-for-13 (.538) in three games with Double-A Mississippi, with a triple and two RBI. He was expected to remain there longer, but the Braves need him back following the injury to Omar Infante.
July 4, 2008
Jeff Francoeur has been demoted to Double-A in order to fix his offensive maladies, according to the Associated Press.

Our View:Francoeur has been completely awful this year, and has really disappointed fantasy owners. It's time to drop him and find somebody else for the outfield. Roster spots are too valuable to sit him on the bench and pray for the best.
July 3, 2008
Jeff Francoeur, who is rumored to be on his way to Triple-A to work on his swing, went 0-for-4 in Thursday's 4-1 loss to the Phillies furthering his chances of a demotion.

Our View:The Braves outfielder is hitting .234 with 41 RBI, 40 runs scored with eight home runs on the season. Fancoeur's June numbers were ugly (.200/.263/.300).
July 3, 2008
MLB.com reports that the Braves are contemplating whether or not to send Jeff Francoeur to the minors to work on his offense.

Our View:Francoeur has struggled all season but hit a new low in June posting averages of .200/.263/.300. Matt Diaz could return from the DL soon, which would make this move easier on the Braves.
June 23, 2008
Jeff Francoeur was fitted Monday for a single contact lens for his right eye, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The outfielder's vision has deteriorated since he was struck in the face by a pitch while squaring to bunt in a 2004 minor league game, and he thinks it might be a cause for the large gap between his stats in day and night games. "We'll see what happens," said Francoeur, who wore the contact lens in Monday night's series opener against Milwaukee. "I'm near-sighted in my right eye a little since I had surgery [for multiple fractures of his right cheek and orbital bone around the eye]. I'm not making excuses, but I feel like I haven't been able to recognize pitches. I've only got to wear it at night."

Our View:Francoeur is a career .292 hitter during the day and a .267 hitter at night, though he was better at night last season (.301, versus a .273 average during the day). You've got to think the lens can only help, so why not give it a shot?
June 19, 2008
Manager Bobby Cox tweaked the Braves' lineup for today against the Rangers, and decided to drop struggling slugger Jeff Francoeur to seventh in the batting order, according to MLB.com. Cox said, "Just changing it around a little bit. With the DH, you can do this. It's just for today." Gregor Blanco is also batting leadoff today.

Our View:Francoeur is only hitting .221 over his last 31 games. He is also hitting .226 (19-for-84) with runners in scoring position this season, and has just two hits in 18 at-bats with the bases loaded.
June 12, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went deep for the eighth time this season on Thursday on his way to two hits and two RBI for the Braves.

Our View:Jeff was the Braves offense on this day as he produced their only two runs. He continues to do just enough to stay in most fantasy lineups, but his performance thus far still has to be considered disappointing.
June 7, 2008
Jeff Francoeur continues to struggle along, a fact highlighted by an 0-for-5 night with nine runners left on base on Friday leaving Francoeur batting .237 with a .379 SLG over his last 50 games, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

Our View:Francoeur has always been too much of a free swinger, and while the run production figures to be there by the end of the year, he will go through periods of extreme ineffectiveness because of his lack of strike zone control.
June 4, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 2-for-5 with an RBI in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Florida.

Our View:He now has 35 RBI this season, but is only hitting .254 with seven homers. He needs to limit his strikeouts, which currently stand at 39.
May 29, 2008
Jeff Francoeur is only 3-for-18 since last Saturday dropping his average to .255, according to MLB.com. "I'm still working on some things, and hopefully I can start getting some consistency soon," Francoeur said.

Our View:Francoeur's slump actually extends out to the entire month of May as he is hitting just .235 with two home runs over his last 25 games. Even worse, the strikeouts have returned as he has 25 punchouts in his last 25 games after just seven in 25 April contests. He will produce runs, but the average will continue to fluctuate if he continues to swing and miss as often as he has over the past month.
May 24, 2008
Jeff Francoeur won Saturday's game for the Braves with a walk-off, two-run shot off the D'Backs' Chad Qualls. He also singled earlier in the game.

Our View:Francoeur had just five dingers on the year after managing just 19 last season. His RBI total (32) is keeping his fantasy value afloat, at least.
May 20, 2008
Atlanta outfielder Jeff Francoeur has been held out of action in the Braves' second game of the day, finishing a double-header with the New York Mets, according to MLB.com.

Our View:This is the first time since his rookie campaign in 2005 that Francoeur has missed a game, ending a Major League-best streak of 370 consecutive games. Francoeur has been battling soreness in his right foot and manager Bobby Cox wanted to rest him after a tough battle against the Mets earlier today (especially with wet and rainy conditions tainting the nightcap).
May 20, 2008
Jeff Francoeur's starting streak is over, according to the Atlanta Journal- Constitution. The Braves right fielder is not in the lineup for the second game of today's doubleheader against the New York Mets.

Our View:The Braves outfielder has started in 370 consecutive games dating to Oct. 1, 2005. He has the longest active games-played streak in the majors, and Francoeur could still keep that alive if he enters the 7:10 p.m. game in any capacity, be it as a pinch-hitter or defensive substitute.
April 28, 2008
Jeff Francoeur now holds the active streak with 351 straight games played, as Grady Sizemore just had his leading streak snapped at 382 games due to a sprained ankle, according to MLB.com. Francoeur previously stated that he wants to play all 162 games for the third straight season.

Our View:He still isn't hitting as many home runs as his potential dictates, but he is enjoying a solid campaign nonetheless, with a .294 batting average over 25 games, with three homers and 19 RBI.
April 23, 2008
Jeff Francoeur says he wants to play all 162 games this year for the third straight season, but his injured right foot may end up forcing him to the bench for a little bit of rest, according to MLB.com. "I'll just have to use my own common-sense judgment on him," manager Bobby Cox said. "[It's hard] because he's productive, and you want guys like that in there every night."

Our View:The pain has gotten pretty bad as Francoeur received a pain killing injection on Tuesday night, but he has vowed to play on as his 347-straight starts are the most of any NL player. So far it hasn't hindered his production as he is hitting .296-3-15 through 20 games.
April 12, 2008
Jeff Francoeur hit two home runs on his way to driving in a career best seven RBI for the Braves on Saturday.

Our View:Francoeur is now hitting .298 with 11 RBI in 11 games for the Braves though he still has trouble laying off pitches with only one walk on the season.
April 5, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went 3-for-5 with three RBI on Saturday to up his season average to .348 over 23 AB. Franceour saw his HR total dwindle to 19 from 29 last season, but his average went up .033 points while his OPS improved by .040. If he can cut down on his strikeouts while continuing to work the strike zone, Francoeur should have little problem producing his third straight 100-RBI season.
April 1, 2008
Rising star Jeff Francoeur only went 1-for-5 on opening day against Pittsburgh, but he collected his first home run, a solo shot off of F. Osoria, who went on to collect the win in a 12-11 game that went 12 innings. Francoeur has enough power to challenge 40 homers, and he is off to a good start in that department.
March 20, 2008
Jeff Francoeur went hitless in three at-bats on Thursday. It was the outfielders first spring work since being struck his lip on Sunday in a game against the Cardinals. He swung at the first pitch he saw to begin the second inning and grounded out but never hesitated at the plate. Francoeur will try and build on his 19 home run 105 RBI season of a year ago.
March 19, 2008
Jeff Francoeur aims to return to the field on Thursday, the AP reports. He was beaned in the face with a pitch on Sunday and sustained cuts inside his lower lip. "The outside feels fine, but it’s still a little rough on the inside," Francoeur says.
March 17, 2008
After being hit on the left side of his face Sunday, Jeff Francoeur went for X-rays, which came back negative, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Scared the (crap) out of me," said Braves manager Bobby Cox. "I thought something had to be broken." He suffered only some cuts in his mouth, though he'll be examined further on Monday. Francoeur said he hopes to return to action on Wednesday or Thursday.
March 16, 2008
Jeff Francoeur was hit on the left side of his face by a pitch during Sunday's game, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He had some cuts inside his mouth that might need stitches and was headed for X-rays, but it appears that he avoided serious injuries. We'll have more updates for you as they become available.
March 3, 2008
The Braves have renewed Jeff Francoeur's contract for the 2008 season, MLB.com confirms. The outfielder was hoping to sign a long-term deal that would take him through his upcoming arbitration years.
March 2, 2008
It appears unlikely that the Braves will be able to lock up Jeff Francoeur to a long-term contract before the regular season begins, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I think I've made it known to everybody I want to be a Brave," said Francoeur. "I want to be here a long time. It's also got to be right on both sides." GM Frank Wren said Saturday that the only recent talks have revolved around a one-year deal, so unless he's putting up a smoke screen or things change soon, that's probably all that will be worked out. At this point, Francoeur seems fine with working through his one-year deals until he can hit salary arbitration.
March 1, 2008
Jeff Francoeur hit a three-run home run off right-hander Runelvys Hernandez on Saturday. It's early, but Francoeur is currently hitting .429 this spring.
February 20, 2008
Jeff Francoeur lifted a lot of weights over the offseason in an effort to add muscle and to help him get through the season without wearing down. "I feel good — a lot better" than last season, Francoeur said in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Frenchy said he gained 17 pounds over the offseason, and he plans on lifting weights four times a week during the regular season to maintain strength. He stopped lifting after camp last year. Francoeur improved his plate discipline last year but saw his power numbers dip. If we can get the best of both worlds from him, watch out.
