Victor Diaz has been cut by the Astros, among others. This according to the Houston Chronicle. Other notable players cut were pitchers Mike DeJean and Mark McLemore. With Diaz gone, the final outfield spot is being fought for by Reggie Abercrombie and Jose Cruz.

As expected, the Rangers sent Victor Diaz down to Triple-A Oklahoma Friday to make room on the roster for Mark Teixeira. Diaz hit just .240 but did have nine homers and 25 RBI in 104 at-bats with Texas.

Victor Diaz is expected to be optioned to Triple-A Friday when Mark Teixeira comes off the DL, the Dallas Morning News reports. Diaz did not travel with the Rangers to Anaheim.

Texas recalled Victor Diaz from Triple-A Oklahoma on Tuesday to take Frank Catalanotto's roster spot, according to the AP. Diaz was leading the RedHawks with a .356 average, three home runs and 28 RBI. He started at DH for the Rangers in Tuesday night's game against the Yankees.

Victor Diaz was optioned to Triple-A on Friday. Diaz hit .308 with two homers in 26 spring at-bats, but the presence of Sammy Sosa made it next to impossible for Diaz to make the club out of camp.
