Our View:Duffy remains in the Pirates' organization, but should be ignored as a fantasy prospect for the rest of 2008.
July 18, 2008 Chris Duffy returned to Double-A Altoona's lineup on Thursday after missing a week due to an inner-ear infection, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. He didn't last long though, as he was forced to leave the game with what the team described as a mild case of dehydration and he was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure.
Our View:Duffy missed a week with the Pirates because of dehydration two years ago. He should continue to be ignored as a fantasy outfielder.
July 3, 2008 Chris Duffy was taken off the 60-day DL and optioned to Double-A Altoona, according to TSN.com.
Our View:Duffy hasn't played since August of last year, and the team likely wants to give him time to get his swing back before thinking about calling him up to the big leagues.
June 22, 2008 Chris Duffy (shoulder surgery) was transfered from the 15-day DL to the 60-day DL on Sunday, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. This move was made so the club could place T.J. Beam on the 40-man roster.
Our View:Duffy has already been on the DL for more than 60 days, so this is just a house keeping matter. He should be activated from the DL at some point this week at which time he will be sent to Triple-A Indianapolis to work on regaining his timing.
June 14, 2008 Pittsburgh outfielder Chris Duffy will begin a rehab assignment on Sunday with the Double-A Altoona affiliate, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
Our View:Duffy, the Pirates' opening day center fielder the past two years, had left shoulder surgery Aug. 31, 2007, and also was sidelined last season by an ankle injury.
