Fernando Cabrera has been released by the Orioles, according to the Baltimore Sun. The Orioles also recalled infielder Brandon Fahey from Triple-A Norfolk and purchased the contracts of catcher Omir Santos and pitcher Alfredo Simon from the Triple-A roster.

Our View:Cabrera struggled over 28.1 innings of relief with a 5.40 ERA and 1.73 WHIP.

Pitcher Fernando Cabrera was fined by Orioles manager Dave Trembley and apologized to him after flipping him the ball instead of handing it to him when Cabrera was taken out, according to the Baltimore Sun. "I am satisfied that he recognized that what he did was inappropriate, and I accept his apology," Trembley said.

Our View:Cabrera has a 9.33 K/9 average, but also an ERA of 5.00 and WHIP of 1.67, and with those numbers, it may behoove him to pay the manager a little more respect.

Fernando Cabrera has been recalled to the Orioles' 25-man roster, according to the AP. He ended his rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk, and replaces Matt Albers on the roster, who landed on the DL.

Our View:Cabrera has recovered from offseason surgery on his right elbow. He once had a chance to be become a closer while with the Indians, but he should have a small role in the Orioles' pen while fighting for innings as a middle-reliever. He doesn't merit fantasy consideration.

Fernando Cabrera threw three innings at extended spring training on Wednesday and is ready for a minor league assignment, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View:The righty, who is recovering from elbow surgery, will basically have to go through spring training before returning, since he missed all of the actual spring training.

Fernando Cabrera is making favorable progress as he tries to returm from elbow surgery, according to the Washington Post. He reportedly looked strong during a pregame pen session that included 35 pitches, mostly consisting of fastballs. Pitching coach Rick Kranitz stated, "Cabrera was as good as I've seen him. His delivery looked like it was much improved from what I saw in spring training. His arm strength looks real good." He will pitch again on Sunday.

Our View:Cabrera will work his way into the bullpen mix when he eventually returns.
