Newsbreakers
December 12, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie was non-tendered by the Astros on Friday, according to MLB.com.

Our View:Abercrombie will probably draw interest from several clubs like the Red Sox who have been looking for a fourth outfielder. He batted .319 in the 55 at-bats he had last season with Houston.
September 11, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie had two hits in four trips to the plate which produced two runs and an RBI for the Astros.

Our View:Abercrombie is hitting .319 in 47 AB this season as he tries to prove to the Astros that he deserves a shot to open up the 2009 season with the big league club. He has seen 17 AB so far in September, but his playing time is too sporadic to maintain much value even in NL-only leagues.
August 10, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie has been recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, according to the AP. Carlos Lee has been placed on the DL as the corresponding move.

Our View:Abercrombie will see some action, but failed to make an impact in his previous stint with the Astros this season as he held a .188 average, and does not merit fantasy consideration.
July 11, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie has accepted an assigment with Triple-A Round Rock, according to the Houston Chronicle. He was designated for assignment on Sunday. Astros' GM Ed Wade said, "Reggie's got a chance to get back and help us. He's got big-league ability, so for him to go back to Round Rock is a win-win. It gives him an opportunity to play every day as promised and gives us an alternative down there if something happens at the major-league level."

Our View:Abercrombie failed to make an impact with a .188 average over 16 at-bats with the Astros this season, and is not worth holding onto in traditional leagues even though the club still thinks he can help them.
July 6, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie has been designated for assignment.

Our View:There's a chance that Abercrombie could be pick up off waivers, but it does not seem likely. He was just 3-for-15 in 13 games with the Astros.
June 27, 2008
Reggie Abercrombie went 1-for-1 and recorded the Astros' only RBI in a 6-1 loss to the Red Sox.

Our View:Abercrombie entered the game as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning. That was his first RBI of 2008.
June 6, 2008
The Astros recalled Reggie Abercrombie from Triple-A Round Rock Friday. Abercrombie was hitting .288 with nine homers, 25 RBI and 14 steals for Round Rock.

Our View:Abercrombie could give Michael Bourn a breather against lefties. He could be worth a small bid in NL-only paly.
