August 7, 2008
David Aardsma, who is nursing a strained right groin, is nearing his return to Boston's bullpen, according to the Boston Globe. He threw an inning in Pawtucket Tuesday night and is likely to be activated from the DL for this weekend's series against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field.

Our View:Aardsma doesn't have any saves, but claimed three wins for the Sox this season in relief, and has 41 strikeouts over 39.1 innings, with 12 earned runs allowed. He should continue his role as a solid fantasy middle reliever for deeper AL-only leagues when he returns.

Our View:The right-hander, who has been bothered by a groin strain, worked a perfect 1-2-3 inning in relief at McCoy Stadium. He struck out two and threw 14 pitches (eight strikes).
August 2, 2008
David Aardsma, who is recovering from a strained right groin, is scheduled to throw an inning at Triple-A Pawtucket Sunday, according to the Boston Herald.

July 29, 2008
The Providence Journal reports that David Aardsma, who has been sidelined with a groin pull for the past 10 days, threw "with 85-90 percent effort" today according to Terry Francona and didn't experience any pain. "He still feels tightness," said Francona, "which is expected. Until that dissipates, he's not going to be in a game."

Our View:Aardsma is expected to have another side session Friday, at which time the club will re-assess and perhaps map out a brief rehab assignment for him next week while the club is on the road. Once he returns, he should continue to be an effective middle reliever for the Sox. He has a 2.75 ERA and 41 strikeouts in 38 appearances this season.
July 20, 2008
David Aardsma has been placed on the 15-day DL due to a groin injury, according to the AP. The team recalled Justin Masterson from Triple-A Pawtuckett to fill his spot on the roster. Aardsma said, "I’ll make sure I give it a lot of rest so I’ll be able to come back healthy. I know it’s one of those things where the last thing I want to do is make it a lot worse than what it is."

Our View:Aardsma was pitching well for the Red Sox bullpen this season prior to landing on the DL, as he held a 3-2 record with a 2.75 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 39.1 innings, with 41 strikeouts. He held little fantasy value in leagues that don't use middle relievers, however.
March 26, 2008
