Newsbreakers
August 10, 2008
Both pitchers put forth a strong performance, but the Giants prevailed with late scoring to secure the 3-2 win in 10 innings. For the Dodgers, it was RHP Hiroki Kuroda doing work, going eight innings to allow one run on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts. The Giants fielded RHP Kevin Correia, going six innings to allow one run on six hits with three walks and five strikeouts.

Our View:Correia earns his third decision in a row, two being wins, allowing seven combined runs along the way with seven walks and 13 strikeouts.
August 3, 2008
Kevin Correia was a hard luck loser on Sunday as the Padres managed to scored only two runs against him in 6.1 innings on Sunday. Correia walked four batters while allowing just three hits on the day.

Our View:Likely on waivers in almost all mixed leagues, Correia came on down the stretch last year and is looking to do so this year as well as he is finally healthy after dealing with injuries for part of the first half. He is worth keeping an eye on.
July 24, 2008
Kevin Correia lasted 5.2 innings on Wednesday night, and though he allowed 12 hits to the Nationals, he didn’t walk a single batter and held the Nats to just three earned runs (four overall).

Our View:Correia had trouble controlling some of his pitches as they were moving all over the zone. Though his work up to this point has been spotty at best, don’t overlook the fact that he pitched quite well last year after the All-Star break (3.13 ERA, 1.28 WHIP over 63.1 innings) and could still provide some solid work down the stretch if fully healthy.
June 15, 2008
Kevin Correia struggled in his first start back from his stint on the DL with a strained left oblique, as he allowed five earned runs on seven hits over 5.1 innings in Sunday's 5-3 loss to Oakland, with two walks and four strikeouts.

Our View:He falls to 1-4 for the season, with a 5.17 ERA. Keep him reserved until he proves worthy of your fantasy rotation.
June 15, 2008
Kevin Correia will make his first start in six weeks today in the final game of a three-game tilt against the Washington Nationals. Correia was 1-3 with a 4.50 ERA in four starts this season before he sustained a strained oblique muscle six pitches into his start against Cincinnati on April 26.

Our View:The Giants have lost 10 of their past 12 games at AT&T Park and had a dismal 13-20 overall mark at the waterfront stadium. Correia has just a .500 career record as a starter, but the Giants are 12-5 in games Correia has started at home since his debut in 2003.
