Newsbreakers
October 6, 2008
Joey Votto has been named the NL Rookie of the Month for September, according to the AP. Votto batted .309 (29-for-94) with nine home runs and 20 RBI over 25 games in the month.

Our View:Votto hit .297 over 151 games, with 24 homers and 84 RBI, and has a bright future ahead of him in Cincinnati. He should challenge .300 and 30 homers in 2009, potentially making him a solid starting first baseman for mixed-leagues.
September 28, 2008
Joey Votto finished off a strong rookie campaign with his 24th home run of the season in the Reds 11-4 loss to the Cardinals. He was 2-for-2 with two RBI, two runs scored and a walk.

Our View:Votto showed very well at the plate this season and should improve in 2009. Expect his power numbers (24 home runs and 84 RBI) to rise in his sophomre season.
September 22, 2008
Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Monday's 7-5 win over the Marlins. He hit a double and a solo home run.

Our View:The 25-year-old infielder raised his average to .288, to go along with 30 doubles, two triples, 22 homers, and 79 RBI. He has registered multiple hits in four of his last five games, and shall remain active in fantasy lineups through the final week of the season.
September 21, 2008
Joey Votto went 0-for-4, left three men on base and struck out once, in what was a typical day for the Reds in their 8-1 beating by the Brewers.

Our View:Votto saw his streak of two-hit games end at three, and he has stumbled a bit so far at the end of the season, hitting under .250.
September 20, 2008
Joey Votto went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored in Saturday's 4-3 win over Milwaukee. Both of his hits were singles.

Our View:Votto is hot as he registered two hits in three straight games, with five RBI over his last two. Keep him active in lineups heading into the final week of the season.
