The Angels covet a front-line pitcher as a top priority for the off-season, and Howie Kendrick could be made available in a potential trade, according to FOX Sports. The team would also be looking for another big bat if they are unable to retain Mark Teixeira.

Our View:If the Angels acquired Jake Peavy, they could then ship righty Ervin Santana or lefty Joe Saunders to the Rockies in a package for left fielder Matt Holliday or third baseman Garrett Atkins.

According to the Boston Globe, Howie Kendrick could move to first base next season if Mark Teixeira departs via free agency.

Our View:Kendrick is an asset offensively as a second baseman, but he would make for a very weak first baseman. It seems unlikely that the big-budget Angels would settle for Kendrick, especially considering their need for more pop.
October 4, 2008
Howie Kendrick continued a dreadful start to the playoffs on Friday night. He went 0-for-5 with four strikeouts and he left five more runners on base in the Angels 7-5 loss.

Our View:Kendrick has now left 11 runners on base while going 0-for-9 in the ALDS. Manager Mike Scioscia may go with a different infielder in Game 3.
October 2, 2008
Howie Kendrick, returning from a left hamstring injury, struggled in Wednesday's Game 1 loss to the Red Sox. He was 0-for-4 with a strikeout and left six runners on base.

Our View:Kendrick is usually an excellent contact hitter, but the Red Sox had his number tonight. Don't be surprised if manager Mike Scioscia sits Kendrick if his struggles continue. He has some good options on his bench if he chooses to use them.

The AP reports that Angels' second baseman Howie Kendrick (strained left hamstring), who returned from the DL on Sunday, sat out on Wednesday to rest his leg. He's expected back in the lineup Thursday. "We want to get him as many at-bats as we can," Scioscia said.

Our View:Kendrick should be able to hit for his typically high average. Don't expect the speed production though. He won't likely push the hamstring until it's playoff time.
