The Tigers have traded Roman Colon to Kansas City for a player to be named. Colon has spent the entire season on the disabled list while recovering from offseason neck surgery, according to the AP. He was charged with felonious assault after a brawl on June 12. Colon hit teammate Jason Karnuth, who was simply trying to break the fight up, and broke several bones in his face, according to a police report. The right-hander later said he had no idea he hit Karnuth. Colon holds a 4.79 ERA in 11 minor league appearances this year.

The Tigers have suspended Roman Colon for seven days following a scuffle in the Triple-A Toledo clubhouse, during which Colon apparently punched Jason Karnuth, who was trying to be a peacemaker. Karnuth is slated to undergo plastic surgery on Monday, according to the Detroit Free Press. "His face was crushed," said Mike Mosa, Karnuth's agent. "It's devastating to sit there and have a plastic surgeon say that you need to have a titanium plate, with screws, placed in your face. He needs to have bone fragments removed from his nostrils. The damage is incredible." Colon may also face legal charges, so this should be an ongoing story for a while.

Roman Colon has been cleared to play catch, the latest step in his recovery from neck surgery, according to the Detroit Free Press. "He got the green light," manager Jim Leyland said.
